Welcome Charise Powell, new Aquila Assistant Principal
We're excited to welcome Charise Powell, the new Assistant Principal of Aquila Elementary!
Charise is a lifelong Minnesotan with a deep commitment to education. She holds a B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing from Southwest Minnesota State University, a Master’s degree and teaching license from The College of St. Scholastica, and a graduate certificate in Culturally Responsive Teaching from Saint Mary's University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Throughout her career, Charise has been a passionate advocate for equity. Her experience includes speaking with the Secretary of Education in Washington, D.C. about school discipline policies, and being honored with WCCO’s "Excellent Educator" award. She is deeply dedicated to creating inclusive school systems where every student feels valued.
Outside of her professional life, Charise lives in Columbia Heights with her husband and their two children, Tony (10) and Remy (5). She loves spending time with her family, baking, making candles, reading, and watching movies.
